Our airport boasts a 3,598-foot runway, providing easy access to air transportation for the residents and visitors of McCormick County and access to Savannah Lakes Village, J Strom Thurmond Project at Clarks Hill, South Carolina Governor’s School for Agriculture at John de la Howe, McCormick County ECO Industrial Park, the Savannah Valley Rail Trail, and a vast array of other natural and recreational resources countywide. Established in the early 1980s through collaborative efforts between McCormick County, the South Carolina National Guard, and the State of South Carolina, our mission is to offer efficient recreational and business air travel options, a local economic development resource, and educational opportunities for our community.

S19 serves as a center for general aviation activities, catering to recreational flyers, as a gateway for visitors seeking outdoor adventures and recreation opportunities, golfing, and historical small-town charm, as a hub for local businesses and those considering locating their operations in McCormick County or the surrounding region, and uniquely inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals through our partnership with the local school district. While we do not offer scheduled commercial airline service, we take pride in serving the diverse needs of our aviation community.

Conveniently situated just minutes away from downtown McCormick, our airport is also easily accessible via a 40-minute drive from Augusta, Georgia and a 90-minute drive from Columbia, South Carolina. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor to the area, McCormick County Airport is your gateway to smooth and hassle-free air travel.

McCormick County’s goal is to develop S19 into a more functional and beneficial general aviation airport facility to serve economic development, educational outreach, and air transportation strategic objectives. Grant assistance has been graciously received from the South Carolina Aeronautics Commission. The following projects are recently completed or imminently planned:

Airport Planning - completed 2022-3
define a 10-year airport development plan with capital priorities and cost estimates for S19
                 10 - year Aiport Development Plan
                 Five - year Airport Capital Improvement Plan
                 Airport Protection Ordinance

Airfield Pavement Crack Seal – early Fall 2023
resist further runway pavement deterioration

Obstruction Removal and Mitigation – 2023-4
ensure clear existing and future runway approach surfaces

Airport Grading – 2024-5
level terrain near the runway and establish developable airport property

Hangar Development – 2025
construct at least 10 T-hangars with asphalt taxilane access to Runway 18
