The McCormick County Zoning Department is responsible for ensuring that new development and on-going land occupancy conforms to applicable County regulations. Regarding land use and zoning areas. The responsibility of the Zoning Officer is to:

  • Review and approve or disapprove all Zoning Use Permits
  • Identify and research zoning problems
  • Make interpolations of ordinance provisions
  • Present solutions to issues presented
  • Address violations as needed

Be sure to contact the Zoning Department before beginning any projects. Some projects that may not require a Building Permit may require a Zoning Permit.

The McCormick County Planning Commission is a citizen volunteer commission appointed by the local government County Council. The responsibilities of the Planning Commission is to objectively review and recommend sound and efficient planning regulations to the governing body of a community that makes the final decision. The commission is granted the authority to recommend the establishment of zoning ordinance regulations, to designate specific zoning districts of the county, and to recommend a comprehensive plan for the development of the community.
